Manfrotto Off Road Hiker 30L Backpack
Just before November 2018, I decided that I wanted a backpack – not just some old cheap backpack – but something to carry my photography gear and tripod, was waterproof and well-made. After looking at some reviews I settled on the Manfrotto Off Road Hiker 30L Backpack.
Manfrotto are well-known for their excellent products in the photographic market, and this is one of them. Ok I haven’t yet fully tested this bag out, but on my first outing with it on my back, I felt as though I’ve owned it for a number of years. The bag is comfortable with a heavy tripod and I would go all day with carrying it on my back.
The Off Road Hiker Backpack is quite capable of carrying photographic equipment all day. The bag features a padded camera compartment that can by easily taken out if you’re not planning on any photography for your walk or hike for that day (but who wouldn’t?). With the compartment in the bag, the main inside of the bag is large enough for a light raincoat, food and a flask. There are plenty of pockets on the outside of the bag for maps and quick access to small food items etc. It has adjustable straps for your hiking poles and a tripod. It also features a camera strap on the front of the backpack which allows the camera to be kept securely on the chest when it’s carried and to keep the weight off your neck whilst carrying the camera.
The camera compartment is capable of holding a Canon 5D MK IV with a 24-70mm f2.8 attached, and has enough room for a 400mm lens and camera accessories.
