My Gear

Camera Gear

Canon R5 – I’ve now gone mirrorless!! but still using the lenses below with an adapter. As this camera has more pixels, I now have to get used to the fact that it produces more noisy shots than the 5DMKIV.

Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Macro A lens for use in scenarios where I want to get up close and personal with a tiny subject. A MUST for those wanting a fantastic macro lens. Of course, it can be used for telephoto shots in your landscapes and for portraits

Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8 L II USM My most used lens. Deemed from Ken Rockwell as the ‘World’s Sharpest Midrange Zoom

Canon EF 100-400mm f4.5-5.6L IS II USM Lens - An excellent piece of kit. I’m hoping to use the lens for landscapes when given the chance. But the main subject will be wildlife

Benro Mach3 TMA38CL Carbon Fibre Tripod and Benro VX30 Dual Panoramic Ball Head - I finally bought a lighter tripod. A review of them will come some day

Unused Camera Gear

Canon 5D MkIV – 30MP images, has a wonderful dynamic range. Upgraded from my original camera, a Canon 450D

Canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III – A lens I used when I had a crop sensor camera. I have never used it on the full frame

Canon EF 16-35mm f4 L IS USM - Bought second hand from WexPhotoVideo. In mint condition with no dust in lens. The lens is absolutely sharp! Need to use the lens more often and see what results I can achieve

Benro GD3WH Precision Geared Head - I’ve now replaced this with a ballhead and should have bought one years ago. So much better than what I have used in the past. This is for sale as with another tripod head. Link to page here

Camera Accessories

Hoya Pro1 Circular Polarizer 82mm (for 24-70mm lens) – An essential peice of kit for any photographer. A polarizer darkens shiny areas of the scene such as on glass or water. Brings out the greens and blues and makes them more prominent. I should use it more often

Pixel TW-283 90 Wireless Timer Remote Control – Needed a remote then I didn’t need to have my finger on the trigger all the time whilst trying to capture images of salmon jumping. Also perfect for wildlife and general use

Peak Design Slide Camera strap - The #1 best selling camera strap available

Manfrotto Offroad Hiker 30L – Nice bag and does the job. I did a small review on my blog. No longer available to buy

Software

Lightroom and Photoshop subscription - The software I use to process my photos

Photomatix Pro & Aurora HDR - These two software are for creating HDRs. They are used very lightly because Lightroom does a good job at merging different exposures.
